The Big Trip North
Beginning no sooner than April 29th, 2009 we embark from Santa Barbara, CA on the big trip north to Puget sound. What follows is the planned itinerary of this journey. These dates mark the current thinking of where and when we will be in preparation and during the voyage. Like all plans, they are subject to change - particularly due to weather.
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. The trip up the west coast in not generally considered a pleasure trip. Head into the wind and current makes slows progress and most often requires running on the iron jib (diesel power). North of Bodega Bay, many harbors have a bar, which can be treacherous during inclimate weather and/or poor timing with the tides.
Our recompense is great. Summer cruising the Puget sound and San Juan Islands. The following summer further explorations north into the inland passage.
